Afrikaans tutoring · Huistaal and EAT · Durbanville
An Afrikaans tutor in Durbanville, step by step.
Whether Afrikaans is your child’s home language or their first additional language, the gaps are usually the same: reading, spelling, and knowing how to build a sentence. We find them and fill them in, one at a time.
Huistaal and Eerste Addisionele Taal, Grade R to 7, following CAPS. With me at Landskron Estate or online on Google Meet.
Your first session is free. Booking is open for 2027.

How I teach Afrikaans
-
1
Find the gap
In the free first session I hear your child read, and see where it stops making sense.
-
2
Build it up
We work on the sounds, words and sentence patterns they’re missing, at their pace.
-
3
Use it
Reading, talking and writing in Afrikaans, so it starts to feel natural.
After every lesson
A note after every lesson.
What we did, what still needs work, and what I noticed. In person, it comes home with your child. Online, I send it to you. No surprises at report time.

Huistaal or Eerste Addisionele Taal?
Both. Huistaal (Home Language) is for children whose school teaches Afrikaans as a home language. Eerste Addisionele Taal (First Additional Language) is for children learning it as an additional language. I follow the CAPS work for whichever your child takes.
We don’t speak Afrikaans at home. Can you still help?
Yes. That’s very common with First Additional Language. We build the words and sentence patterns your child needs, so homework and tests stop being a guessing game.
Do you help with orals and prepared readings?
Yes. We practise until your child can do it calmly and clearly.
Do you help with Afrikaans homework?
Yes. Your child can bring their homework and do it with me, so it’s not a battle at home.
Is the first session free?
Yes, for one-to-one and group sessions. It’s a chance for me to see where your child is and what they need, and for your child to get to know me.
Online or in person?
Whichever suits you: with me at Landskron Estate in Durbanville, or online on Google Meet.
